Anex

Description

Anex is an independent not-for-profit public health organisation committed to the prevention of drug-related harm. We deliver research, policy development, training and workforce development. We use our expertise, knowledge and networks to raise awareness around drug issues in Australia and internationally.

Anex - the Association for Prevention and Harm Reduction Programs Australia - was founded in 1995 out of an informal network of service providers. In 2004, representatives from Australian Needle and Syringe Programs (NSPs) endorsed Anex as the national voice and advocate for NSPs and harm reduction. Our original goal of connecting front line experience with policy and program responses to drug use issues still stands today.

What We Do

o Research, policy and advocacy - an evidenced based approach
informs all levels of our policy development and advocacy and guides the development of our programs and services.

o Training and workforce development - as a Registered Training
Organisation, we provide training, peer support programs and resources to national and international organisations across the health, government and business sectors and the broader community.

o Community support - Anex promotes and supports effective
approaches to reducing and preventing drug-related harm including Needle and Syringe Programs (NSPs) and pharmacotherapy (methadone & buprenorphine treatments). We also aim to increase the general community's understanding of drugs and related issues.
