Description

Berry Street is the largest independent child welfare organisation in Victoria. We helped over 14,000 children,young people and their families over the past year. Berry Street chooses to work with children, young people and families with the most challenging and complex needs, including those for whom we are often the last resort. These children and young people have suffered great distress and significant harm growing up in families where violence, chronic neglect, substance abuse, mental illness and poverty have prevented them from having a good childhood.

We believe it is imperative that we act now, so that more children experience a good childhood that equips them to become healthy, functioning adults; and so that our community will become a better, safer place to live for all of us – with less crime, mental illness, substance abuse, violence and homelessness. Berry Street never gives up doing whatever it takes for these kids because we believe that all children should have a good childhood - growing up in families and communities where they feel safe, nurtured and have hope for the future.
