Description

Big West is a community based contemporary arts festival staged in and around Footscray and on this year from 20 – 29 November. Big West makes, nurtures and presents unique, high quality and irreverent works.

Big West features emerging and established artists and arts organisations based in, or working with, the unique landscape and culturally diverse communities of the inner western suburbs of Melbourne.

Multi-art form in nature, Big West uses the suburban streets, front lawns, industrial sprawl and iconic landscapes of Footscray as a backdrop for works spanning theatre, visual arts, dance, music, circus and installations.

A key component of each Big West is a series of commissioned works that sees established international and Australian artists teamed up with various culturally diverse communities in the west to create unique, spirited and high quality performances and installations.
