• Event: North Shore Relay For Life – 24th & 25th March 2012Relay For Life is the world’s most successful fundraising event that engages the community to Celebrate, Remember and Fight Back against cancer. A festival style atmosphere, the event features live music, oval activities, three beautiful ceremonies and an opportunity to camp under the stars.
Cancer Council NSW is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is interested in joining the Volunteer Organising Committee as Marketing and media Assistant for this exciting community event to be run at Gore Hill Oval, St Leonards, in March 2012.
Description of Role:
Relay For Life by its very nature offers many opportunities to get the word out about Cancer Council NSW, cancer awareness and the event itself. This role is to gain media attention for your Relay and the people who make it happen to help recruit teams, raise awareness levels of Relay, the Cancer Council and cancer prevention messages. This will involve implementing a Marketing & Media Plan and focusing on print, radio and social media, together organising lead up promotional events and creating e-newsletters.
Useful skills for these roles may include:
• Excellent organisational skills
• Excellent time management skills and be able to coordinate multiple tasks at any given time
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Creativity
• Be able to work autonomously as well as work in a team
• Marketing & Media experience is highly desirable. Especially experience in writing press releases
