Recognised as Australia’s leading eye research institute, the Centre for Eye Research Australia's eight units conduct basic, clinical and population based research to understand disease processes, improve diagnosis and treatment of major eye diseases. Beyond the eye, researchers are investigating the relationship between retinal vascular changes and systemic disease such as hypertension, stroke and heart disease.Our close affiliation with the Royal Victorian Eye & Ear Hospital, where we are located, and the University of Melbourne makes us a leader in patient care, translational research and education.
