Annual Charity Golf Day

Description

Eastern Respite & Recreation - Create and run an “Annual Charity Golf Day”

Estimated time for task completion: Flexible part time hours

Location of work: Maroubra, or can be largely based offsite.

Volunteer project description and responsibilities
Reporting to the CEO, the Volunteer will be responsible for the establishment and running of an inaugural “Annual Charity Golf Day” aimed at raising funds for Eastern Respite’s important work with families in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney.

The volunteer will be required to seek corporate sponsors and corporate competitors for the event and, in doing so, create the beginnings of a corporate supporter base with which Eastern Respite may develop an ongoing relationship.

Key tasks and activities will include booking, planning and promoting the event, securing a range of sponsorships and prizes and creating a system that will allow for the Golf Day to be built into a strong annual fundraising event that people will be proud to be associated with.

In establishing this event on an annual basis, the volunteer will play a vital role in securing the recurrent funds required to expand Eastern Respite’s services to families of children with disabilities across the Eastern Suburbs.

About the organisation:
Eastern Respite and Recreation is a not for profit, community based organisation. We are funded by both State and Commonwealth governments to offer support and recreational activities to people with a disability and their families in the Eastern Sydney Area.

Eastern Respite and Recreation formed in 1985 as a result of a few parents seeking respite and recreational services and facilities. Between 4 to 5 programs were established aimed at providing respite to the families and skills to the consumers.
Today Eastern Respite and Recreation runs 29 different programs which provide services to over 320 consumers and their families.

Our mission is to enhance the quality of life of people with disabilities and their carers

Resources - human and physical
A desk, telephone and computer would be provided for the volunteer at Eastern Respite’s Maroubra Junction Office. However, the nature of this project does lend itself to the volunteers being able to work from a remote/home/other office location. In the case of the latter, telephone contact with the CEO along with occasional planning meetings would be necessary. Out of pocket expenses/reimbursements would be met by Eastern Respite. Some administrative support could be provided when required.

On the day of the event, Eastern Respite would have some staff available to help coordinate the activities.
