HSP Research Foundation Inc

Description

Who We Are
The HSP Research Foundation Inc. is a registered charity supporting people Australia-wide who have a rare genetic disorder - Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia (HSP).

As the name implies, HSPers have spasticity in the legs and all the problems that brings with it. While many HSPers walk with difficulty but without help, a significant percentage need a range of aids including wheelchairs.

The disease is degenerative, so symptoms worsen with age. As a hereditary disease, it is passed in the genes from generation to generation.

Everyone involved with the HSPRF is a 100% volunteer, and upwards of $.95 in every dollar raised goes to fund research towards a cure.

Our Vision
Is for HSPers and those at risk knowing their causal mutation and adopting new therapies and practices to prevent further inheritance.

We participate in and support global efforts to find a cure for this disease, and facilitate and raise funds for research.

The HSPRF is also the focal point for the HSP community, providing support and education.
