Description
Irabina is a specialist early childhood intervention service that provides family centred programs for children from diagnosis to 8 years and their families who are challenged by an Autism Spectrum Disorder.Irabina is unique in that it is the only Autism Specific Early Intervention Service located in Victoria. Irabina offers early support programs, early intervention, individual and group therapy, aquatic occupational therapy, education programs for parents/carers and the broader community along with teachers and clinicians working with children with an autism spectrum disorder. Irabina assists children and families with transitioning to school and invites children to return to Irabina once at school to participate in social skills, fine and gross motor programs and a basketball sport development program.
Over 200 families visit our facility each week and we currently employ over 40 staff including a large range of ASD health professionals - Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, Aquatic Occupational Therapists, Special Education Teachers, Psychologists, Teachers Assistants Social Workers and Family Counsellors.
Autism affects 1 in 100 children and is a lifelong condition, and 80% of children diagnosed with ASD are male.
