Kajji Foundation
Description
The Kajji Foundation mission is:to guide talented young Australians to achieve their potential for themselves and their communities.
Our main work to date is to bring aboriginal students aged 15 to 18 to Melbourne. We arrange home stays and scholarships to Melbourne private schools.
During 2010 year, we hosted 7 young fellas from Tennant Creek in years 10, 11 and 12.
We will probably have a similar number in 2011.
There are many young Australians with ambitions or goals that can seem a whole world away. It is our belief that every young Australian has the right to have ambitions and the right to fulfill their potential in chasing their goals. It is our intention to help young people dare to set goals in a field in which they show potential and provide them with the framework to pursue those goals to the best of their ability.
We believe that by assisting these young people to fulfill their potential, the benefits can be far reaching. We believe that the frameworks we provide can help participants reach a sense of self that promotes a high degree of self-confidence and a firmly held belief that they can create the world in which they want to live. That they can have dreams and chase them. In doing so it is anticipated that participants will become leaders and act as role models for younger children in their communities when they return, letting them know that they too are able to fulfill their potential.
