Ku-ring-gai Youth Development Service Inc is a not-for profit organisation.
KYDS provides confidential free individual counselling for young people aged 12 to 18 and their families living on the North Shore of Sydney. Group programs provided by KYDS include Conflict resolution, Stress Management (HSC), Relationships, Women’s Issues, Drug and Alcohol, Sexual Health to name a few, and Parent Education.
In the past 3 three years, 1500 individuals with various social, emotional and behavioural difficulties have received a service at or by KYDS (either individually, with their families or as part of group programs). People tend to think that North Shore types are affluent and OK - our experience leads us to draw a somewhat different conclusion

Our Mission

The Kyds objective is to provide free counselling using clinical frameworks and evidence based research to promote measurable change for young people and their families. In addition to providing confidential individual and family counselling, KYDS runs a dynamic educational and therapeutic groupwork program and uses Solution Focused and Cognitive Behavioural approaches to ensure positive outcomes for our clients.

* Parental support and counnselling.

* Advocacy for young people helping case manage their needs with families, schools and the justice system.

* Group work in conflict resolution, bullying, young men and young women's issues, HSC stress management, safe partying, drug and alcohol and sexual health.

* Tailor-made school programs.

* A system of inter-disciplinary referrals.

* Co-operative case management with other support providers.

* Parents education forums.

* Public presentations and advocacy in support of youth needs.

* Tertiary student training placement.
