Melba Support Services

Description

In October, 1971, a public meeting held at the Lilydale Shire offices called for a committee to investigate the establishing of a Day Training Centre for people with an intellectual disability, within the shires of Lillydale, Healesville and Upper Yarra. The organisation became known as The Melba Centre later become Melba Support Services. We now support in excess of 200 adults with an intellectual disability and have recently become accredited with CQL (Council on Quality and Leadership), one of only 4 organisations in Australia and New Zealand to receive this accreditation.
Mission Statement – “Individuals with a disability leading everyday lives”
Vision Statement – “A society that values the individuality and rights of all people”

We support people with an intellectual disability, (and often associated complex physical disabilities) to pursue a broad range of social, educational, vocational and recreational opportunities that bring meaning and value to their lives. Our focus is on people’s personal outcomes which we listen to and focus on for each individual and the life choices they make.
