Event Committee Member

Created By

Stride Foundation

Description

Background:

Stride is a small organisation, delivering big things. To date, most of our resources have been focused on excellent program development and delivery. However, we now need to focus on raising our profile and diversifying our fundraising to make sure we have a sustainable income to support our program delivery. Part of our fundraising strategy is to develop a community fundraising program. Community fundraising will use fun and inventive events and campaigns to engage individuals and community organisations (including schools) to support Stride and raise funds for us.

Our recently appointed Director of Development is an experienced fundraiser, marketer and communications professional working with a talented Marketing Assistant and astute Development Manager. However, Stride is at the beginning of its journey in terms of growth and our small Development team is in need of input in terms of wider contacts and having access to a diverse skill-base to brainstorm and test ideas.

A Community Fundraising Committee will be a fantastic opportunity to create a hub of ideas and skills that can be translated into action and raise much needed funds and awareness of Stride and the work we do with severely disadvantaged young people. The committee will be innovative, productive but also, importantly… it will be fun.

Committee Profile:

We’re looking to attract professionals interested in volunteering as a committee member with a progressive, innovative and passionate youth charity, who can contribute knowledge and expertise in one or more of the following areas:

•IT
•Project Management/Event Management
•Fundraising
•Creative advertising

Responsibilities:

Volunteer committee members are asked to:

•Commit to taking part in monthly/fortnightly committee meetings which, with the committee’s consensus, can be held outside of normal work hours.

•Contribute advice based on experience in their particular field of expertise, but also willing and keen to contribute to whole discussions and creative ideas around potential fundraising events and campaigns for Stride.

•If and when able to, be open to taking on responsibility for action points to support developing an idea and taking it to implementation.

•When able to, be open to providing pro-bono hands on expertise in order to make ideas turn into reality.

•Be an ambassador for Stride with friends and colleagues.

•Support and attend Stride fundraising events organised by the committee.

Please note that we do understand that outside of the committee meetings committee members will have boundaries on how much time they have available to donate. We also understand that committee members may not always be in a position to donate pro-bono skills or services.

Although pro-bono contributions are important, the greatest value of the committee will be in the development of creative ideas in terms of uniqueness, feasibility and potential for success.
