The John Berne School
Description
The John Berne School was established in 1998 to provide a positive education option for students in Years 7 – 10 whose education is at risk. The school is for students who have failed in traditional school settings – many are behaviour disordered, have diagnosed mental health issues, are school refusers, and most have failed academically. If not for an oppportunity to attend a school like Berne, realistically these students will not achieve their Year 10 School Certificate and will find it very difficult to enter the workplace, or achieve milestones recognised by the larger community. These students are also at risk of poor personal relationships, health and criminal involvement.Website
