Description

TreeProject is a community based, not-for-profit organization with a unique project that brings urban and rural dwellers together to repair the Victorian environment. Volunteers propagate indigenous seedlings in their own back yard for farmers and landcare groups. Volunteers include school children, youth clubs, families, business people, retirees and people in aged care facilities. TreeProject volunteers have grown and planted over 2 million indigenous trees, shrubs and grasses across Victoria since 1988. Growers not only develop relationships with the rural community, they also develop a sense of stewardship for the land they are helping repair. Because of the low cost of the seedlings and the assistance in planting them, many landholders who would not otherwise revegetate their properties are able to do so.
