Able Management Group (AMG) provides access and opportunities for people with disabilities to participate in sport and recreational activities in the Alpine Region. Their accessible accommodation facility at the base of Mt Hotham is used by people with various disabilities (including paraplegics, quadriplegics, those with Cerebral Palsy, MS, amputees) to participate in sports such as sit skiing, hand cycling and wheelchair paragliding.

While AMG had been operating for six years, they have never published an annual report. Kate Fenwick, Fundraising Coordinator and a member of AMG’s Executive Council, approached goodcompany to help her find a skilled volunteer to provide advice and direction on the design and content for their annual report. Ideally, they were hoping for a volunteer experienced in professional publications including annual reports.

goodcompany volunteer Alice Pyman skilled in communications and on maternity leave at the time, answered AMG’s volunteer project and took on the entire project of developing their annual report for 2009-2010. Alice developed a project plan for the report and used her professional contacts to assist her with the layout, design and printing of the report. She presented a draft of the report to the AMG's Executive Council and then incorporated all the changes and finalised the report. AMG was so happy with Alice’s work that they invited her to join their Executive Council as the head of their Marketing Committee.

Kate hopes that the outcome of Alice’s work will mean increased exposure for the organisation through a professionally presented annual report. The report will be used to inform members and supporters about their work and as a marketing tool to promote the organisation to prospective grant makers, sponsors and participants. Kate says: “goodcompany connected us with a volunteer who was able to offer more than just what we had volunteer projected for. We have gained an enthusiastic, motivated and capable volunteer who has joined our Executive Council and become heavily involved in our activities. A fantastic outcome for our group and the start of a strong ongoing relationship.”
