IT Consultant breaks down the barriers for Spinal Cord Injuries

Spinal Cord Injuries Australia (SCIA) aims for a society without barriers for people with spinal cord injury. SCIA promotes independence, and provides consumer based support and rehabilitation services to people with spinal cord injuries.

Pearl Lee, Development Manager of SCIA was in need of a IT consultant to advise and mentor her through the re-development of SCIA’s website and database. goodcompany matched her with IT project manager and web consultant, Freddy Zwanager. Freddy began by helping SCIA align their website strategy with their organisational goals. He provided advice on the best approach to information architecture in order to ensure SCIA were maximising the IT functionality for their new website. Freddy also served as an IT mentor for Pearl, teaching her the ‘ins and outs’ of SCIA’s IT requirements.

The outcome resulted in a functional new website for SCIA, highly engaging for visitors that has increased donations, membership sign-up and volunteering commitments and is aligned with SCIA organisational strategy. The impact for SCIA has been huge. Freddy was instrumental in helping them identify the most cost effective solution for their donor management system that will serve SCIA well for several years.

Freddy too enjoyed working with SCIA, ‘It was a pleasure working with SCIA, as I could use my professional expertise efficiently- they were very professional. If this was a commercial project, they would have been my favourite clients’
