Helping make housing a home for Victorian women
The Victorian Women’s Housing Association (VWHA) turned to goodcompany to find a volunteer facilitator for their Annual Planning Process.
This particular planning process for the VWHA was of critical importance, as they were considering Registration as an Affordable Housing Association with the State Government. If this application is successful, it will allow them to access Government funding to build social housing for disadvantaged women and their children in Victoria.
A volunteer, Deb, with over 25 years experience in the financial sector answered the VWHA’s advertisement with goodcompany to facilitate their Strategic Planning Sessions. Going above and beyond the call of duty, she not only facilitated the sessions, she undertook the preparation work to make sure they ran successfully, guided the VWHA development manager in work they needed to prepare for the session and ultimately drafted the VWHA’s strategic plan and complimentary business plan, to help to attract much needed investors.
Jeanette Large, CEO VWHA, worked closely with the volunteer, “The end result of their work has been that we now have a clear and concise strategic plan and comprehensive business plan that has paved the way for VWHA to work towards achieving its goals.”
The cost of employing a consultant with the skill base would have been at least $10,000. Jeanette continued, “We would have been hard-pressed to find someone through the normal commercial channels with the skills, expertise, empathy, and preparedness to pass on their skills to staff at VWHA the way that Deb did.”
