Michelle Ayyuce, Association for Children with a Disability

1. My name: Michelle Ayyuce

2. My occupation: My experience has been in Marketing/Sales (I am currently on maternity leave)

3. My responsibilities: Account Management, Strategy development, campaign development & management, marketing process improvement.

4. What inspired me to get involved in skilled volunteering: A combination of wanting to offer my experience to assist a not for profit group, and also continue to learn and expand my skills, while I take time out to raise my children.

5. Which organisations have I fulfilled volunteer projects for: Association for Children with a Disability (ACD)

6. A bit about the volunteer projects I fulfilled, what I achieved and their outcomes: The request was to write a prospectus that could be used to sell the organisation to secure more funding from new sources. The prospectus is going to be used in conjunction with a number of other marketing activities. Ultimately the overall outcome is drive new funds that will allow ACD to continue to offer and expand the high level of support and services to children with a disability and their families.

7. What the community group gained:
- The wording for the prospectus and editing of design
- Fresh set of eyes to approach the task
- Dedicated prime
- Input into “what next” for their overall marketing strategy

8. What I got out of volunteering my time and skills: I was able to use my skills to help ACD meet their objectives and enabled me to offer something back to the community, while also providing a balance in my life while on maternity leave. I developed a greater understanding of the industry, its diverse challenges and the issues faced by families raising a child with a disability. I met some amazing people, who were committed and passionate about making a difference. Also working towards something that was not about sales or “share holder valuewas extremely rewarding.

9. Tips for Community Groups and volunteers working together: Good Communication, defining from the beginning ownership, key objectives, outcomes and timeframes is essential.
