Established in 1991, the Environment Defenders Office (Victoria) Ltd (‘EDO’) is a community legal centre practicing public interest environmental law. We work to support, empower and advocate for individuals and groups in Victoria who want to use the law and legal systems to protect the environment.
We are dedicated to a community that values and protects a healthy environment and support this vision through the provision of information, advocacy and advice.
Our activities include:
-informing & advising about environmental law through our telephone advisory service;
-providing community education by conducting workshops, seminars and presentations about environmental law;
-providing advice and legal representation and conducting public interest environmental litigation on behalf of individuals and environment groups and other community organisations;
-engaging in policy and law reform activities such as participating in committees and inquiries, conducting policy analysis and preparing submissions; and
-producing a range of publications designed to make environmental law accessible to the community.
