House of Restoration
Description
House of Restoration (“HR”) is a charity based in the Whitehorse area which provides afamily environment for people in need, including the homeless, disabled, street kids, people from broken families and people in crisis situations.
HR has seen many lives restored and many families reunited. To achieve this transformation in the lives of the people we assist and to provide a sense of belonging and purpose, HR focuses on the principles of family, joy, patience, kindness, respect, perseverance and
integrity.
House of Restoration:
Respects and focuses on the need of the individual and educates them regarding their responsibilities within the community.
Seeks to empower those who have been exposed to abuse and neglect.
Works together with other agencies within the community to provide more opportunities for the individual.
Encourages team work and unity within the organisation.
Continually seeks ways to improve the activities that are already in place.
In addition to the above, there are a number of departments within HR, including:
Street Ministry – focuses on people who are outcasts in our society, providing friendship and practical assistance to those who want it. We are committed to supporting individuals who are seeking restoration by providing accommodation, programs and personal care.
The West - distributes food to disadvantaged families in the western suburbs where there is a large
community of refugees and newly arrived immigrants. The West will commence running various programs in the area shortly.
D’Light - aims to encourage and inspire young people all over the world to unleash the potential they have and to strive to make a difference in the world through performing arts. D’Light enables young people to develop perseverance, strength, hope and a sense of self worth.
Shining Light - aims to see every young person reach their full potential by providing
educational resources to schools in the Pacific Island region.
Indigenous Ministry - is dedicated to building bridges between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians and providing support and services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in a culturally appropriate way. It also focuses on areas including mentoring and educational
programs; sports, music and recreation; personal and family support; advocacy and social justice.
