Kombiz Youth Network
Description
Kombiz Youth Network began in 1991 as a partnership between the local Anglican and Uniting churches. It operates now with broad support from local church and community organisations as well as the City of Port Phillip.Kombiz Youth Network is committed to community and youth development in and for the City of Port Phillip, particularly South and Port Melbourne. We work with a broad range of children, young people and families including many in disadvantaged, marginalised or other difficult situations.
Kombiz Youth Network offer relationships, supports, opportunities and services that foster the experience and exploration of personal, community and spiritual development.
Programs include:
'Impact' – Friday activities and drop in centre for young people in years 5-7.
'Aftershock' – Friday night chill space for young people in years 8-12.
'Girl Zone' - Monday afternoon girls group offering a safe place and fun activities to develop self-esteem and social skills.
'Savage' – Monday afternoon activities for boys and blokes.
'ourspace' -Homework, friends, support, music and cooking on a Thursday afternoon.
Adventure Camping - Challenging weekends away including canoeing, white water rafting and rock climbing.
Schools work – welfare support, transition sessions for grade 6 students preparing for secondary school, resilience sessions including topics such as body image, relationships, managing tough times etc.
Getting On With It – prevention and early intervention support for children and young people managing big changes such as grief and loss.
