Melbourne Fringe believes that contemporary arts festivals have the power, and the responsibility, to give voice to and engage with community concerns with innovation, energy and creativity.
Melbourne Fringe, motivated by an adventurous and playful spirit, celebrates, supports and resources contemporary artists and the arts. It encourages exploration and investigation that challenges the arts as we know it, searching for new boundaries that provide creative experiences not yet seen, or heard.

Melbourne Fringe works collaboratively across all art forms to contribute to the social, economic and environmental well being of our community while engaging artists and audiences emotionally, physically and intellectually in arts experiences. Melbourne Fringe invites and embraces emerging and established artists to become partners in the vision, development and shape of each festival. This stems from a commitment to remain essential and relevant to the community and the artists, more specifically.

Melbourne Fringe has the power to provide resources and the capacity to dramatically impact on the future cultivation of the arts in Australia. The Festival encourages the development and extension of artistic investigation and risk, with a view to providing a platform that extends the arts and reflects the current ground swell of artistic exploration.
