Pain Management Research Institute
Description
The Pain Management Research Institute (PMRI) is a joint initiative of the University of Sydney and Royal North Shore Hospital. It conducts research and education programs and works with the Pain Management Centre to treat patients with acute pain, cancer pain and chronic non-cancer pain.20% of the population of Australia suffer from persistent pain, at a huge cost to them, their families and the economy generally. In 2008 the PMRI is to conduct a statewide fundraising campaign to raise more funds that will enable an acceleration of the research program.
