The Old Colonists’ Association of Victoria was the dream of George Selth Coppin an actor, entrepreneur, parliamentarian and philanthropist. Together with a group of prominent Melbourne identities The Old Colonists’ Association of Victoria was established in 1869 to house and care for elderly people who were far from home and in need. The Association was founded as:
• A Charitable Organisation
• An independent unaffiliated body
• A non-profit concern
• A gift supported service on a non-sectarian basis.
