West Heidelberg Legal Service began operations in 1975 and is based at the local community health centre, currently under redevelopment at Olympic Village in West Heidelberg and operates an outreach service to Greensborough. The legal service models a holistic approach to community service working closely with health/welfare professionals under the one roof. The legal service also collaborates with La Trobe University to offers law students practical experience in community law and promote the ideals of community service, ethical practice and human rights. Our services include: legal advice and casework (up to and including court representation); provision of information on law and legal and non-legal services; community education; law reform; referrals to/from legal and non-legal services; research and community development.
