Eyes And Ears For Helping Others

Louisa Williams volunteers her graphic design skills to goodcompany community groups despite her hectic schedule, seeing it as an opportunity to “further my skills and interact with people I don’t already work with in my organization”.

She has respond to almost ten wishes to date. Two of the most recent were for Foundation Boroondara, established to encourage the Boroondara community to contribute to its long-term benefit and participate in community life, and the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, specialising in eye, ear, nose and throat medicine.

During the course of her work for the Eye and Ear hospital, Louisa found the opportunity to expand on her skill as a designer. “I learnt all about design for the visually impaired, what works and what is hard to read through my work for the Eye and Ear Hospital”.

Of her continued involvement, Louisa says she is “always satisfied” with wish outcomes, and in addition, has found it invaluable professionally, giving her the chance to improve skills in “client liaison, meeting deadlines and working with tight budgets”.
