Bevy of volunteers expedite development of survivor organisation

Advocates for Survivors of Child Abuse (ASCA) is a national not-for-profit organisation which supports and enables survivors to overcome the effects of abuse.

According to Dr Cathy Kezelman, ASCA Head of Strategy and Policy, ASCA "has been blessed with a number of superb volunteers through goodcompany".

One such volunteer is Rudolph Wirawan who, over a two year period, has assisted ASCA with the development of an organisation-specific database, as well as a website restructure creating an interactive site to meet the needs of an increasingly dynamic organisation.

Dr Kezelman commented on the value of this work: "These developments are a crucial step in ASCA’s progress and their implementation will create many more opportunities for us."

ASCA has also received an incredible amount of pro bono media support over the past two years through Launch Management, organised through goodcompany. The opening of new Sydney offices in Kirribilli was combined with the launch of ASCA’s 2007 'Break the Silence on Abuse' media campaign. This event also introduced ASCA's new patrons - Ita Buttrose and Mikey and Laura Robins - and launched a new book written by a survivor. Both ideas brought to fruition through Launch Management via goodcompany.

In addition, the design and printing of posters for the book launch was arranged by goodcompany volunteer Leona Butler and ASCA has sourced two of its board members through goodcompany.

Dr Kezelman concluded that through goodcompany, the organisation’s development had been furthered significantly by enabling ASCA to "expedite many projects to advance our strategic plan which we could not otherwise have afforded to embark on, let alone finalise".
