Volunteer Mentor Position Description

goodcompany is looking for experienced Victorian-based professionals to participate in our Volunteer Mentor Program.
The aim of the Program is to increase the capacity of community groups to successfully utilise skilled volunteers.

What is a Volunteer Mentor?

A goodcompany Volunteer Mentor is like an 'account manager' or 'consultant' that assists a community group with assessing, scoping and writing volunteer project briefs and recruiting skilled volunteers.

The outcome of the program is to increase the number of quality volunteering projects and consequently generating a greater number satisfied skilled volunteers. This in-turn results in direct and indirect financial benefits for community groups and improved efficiency in the sector.

What will the Volunteer Mentor do?

  • Conduct a basic ‘business needs ‘snapshot’ of the organisation to determine potential short and long term volunteer projects
  • Assist with scoping, drafting, editing and submitting volunteer projects
  • Provide tips and support on working with skilled volunteers
  • Assist and advise with responding and recruiting skilled volunteers
  • Where appropriate, manage the ongoing relationship between the skilled volunteer and the group
  • Where appropriate, act as an ambassador for goodcompany and the organisation including managing the goodcompany group account, representing goodcompany and your organisation at goodcompany events

What is the level of Commitment?

  • A commitment to work as a mentor for 6 months
  • Attend a 2hr training session to learn about goodcompany and the role of the volunteer mentor (will take place after hours).
  • Regular communication with Wish Mentor (minimum of 1-2hrs fortnight)
  • Provide goodcompany with feedback as required
  • You must be based in Victoria

What skills are required?

  • 8+ years professional experience
  • People Management and relationship management skills
  • General Management and strategy skills
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of the community sector and skilled volunteering
