Australian Red Cross Lifeblood

Lifeblood

At Lifeblood, we're here for all Australians. We support more people in more ways than ever before through blood, organ matching, tissue typing, donated breast milk and more. You can support us by giving blood, or with a financial donation for our milk research program or microbiome pilot. Together, we’re Australia’s Lifeblood.

Volunteer as a blood donor

Giving blood is one of the most generous things you can do for another person. Right now, Australia needs 33,000 blood donations every week. If you can, give like life depends on it. Saving lives is even better when you do it with your workmates, team mates or community group through Lifeblood Teams. Or, maybe you’ve donated before. Then you already know how great giving blood feels. Recapture that feeling by booking your next donation now.

Donate for milk research

Since 2018, we’ve has been providing donated breast milk to some of Australia’s premature babies. But, there’s still a lot to learn. We partner with clinicians and researchers across Australia to learn more about the best practices for caring for premature babies. Your support will help with this important research.

Donate to the microbiome pilot

We’re working to provide a reliable supply of faecal microbiota transplants (FMT) to treat, and even cure, recurrent Clostridium difficile infection. Your support will help set up our testing facility, as well as research into how FMTs could help other gut conditions like Crohn’s disease.

Australian governments fund Australian Red Cross Lifeblood to provide blood, blood products and services to the Australian community. From our donated breast milk program to our microbiome pilot, we’re always looking for new ways to deliver life-giving support to those in need. By making a financial donation, you can help advance Lifeblood’s research and development programs, so we can make a bigger difference beyond blood.
