Foodbank restores hope to people who are struggling by rescuing and
sourcing food and groceries from farmers, manufacturers and retailers and
distributing them to 2,950 front line charities around the country to provide to
individuals and families in need. We also help children at school by providing
breakfasts to 2,890 schools nationally.
One in six Australian adults haven’t had enough to eat in the last year
and, even more shockingly, 1.2 million children have gone hungry.
Uncertain access to food affects Australians from all walks of life,
food insecurity is not restricted to the obviously vulnerable groups in the
community such as homeless people and the unemployed. People of every age,
living alone, in families and in groups are susceptible. Food insecurity is
shown to affect people in cities right through to those in remote areas and
surprisingly, it affects more people in jobs (64%) than those who have no work.
In spite of best efforts, food relief is still not reaching many
Australians who need it. 1 in 3 people struggling to meet their food needs are
new to the situation.
Your support will help Foodbank provide Australians battling hunger with
the food they need! The need to alleviate hunger is an ever-increasing demand,
and this is why, with your help, we strive to do more every day.
