Food For Change
Food For Change is a not for profit organisation that was set up in Melbourne in 2016 with the mission to alleviate food insecurity in Australia. As an organisation we believe in an abundant Australia where anybody can get the food relief they need at anytime, no matter the circumstances.

Currently 1 in 10 Australians seek food relief annually and over 70,000 of these people are turned away each month by food relief agencies due to a lack of fresh food resources. Unfortuntaely 1/3 of those turned away are children.

Our Solution Is Simple - GROW | RESCUE | SUPPORT

GROW - Fresh and nutritious vegetables, fruit and herbs on unused land.

Food For Change uses land that is donated to us to grow as much food as possible to feed the thousands of hungry Australians who seek food relief every year. We grow nutritious & fresh fruit, vegetables & herbs. Our growing program is run by volunteers and all the food that we grow is donated to local food relief agencies.

RESCUE - Food via a network of food rescue partners

Food For Change has been rescuing food locally since the beginning and during this time we have realised that local, small scale food rescue is not currently catered for. In response we have developed our Food Rescue App. The app puts local food donors together with local food relief organisations to maximise the amount of food rescued in Australia. Delivering thousands of meals every week to hungry Australians.

SUPPORT - Local food relief agencies and Local food education programs

All the food we grow and rescue serves one purpose and that is to support the food relief agencies who feed hungry Australians. From large organisations like FoodBank & SecondBite to small local agencies, we form strategic partnerships that uses existing infrastructure to deliver more food to those in need. We are also setting up partnerships with local community organisations to help support the education space relating to horticulture, urban farming and harvesting.
