Phoenix House Youth Services
Who We Are:
Phoenix House (www.phoenixhouse.org.au) has an established (30 years) track record of youth support services for marginalized young people (aged 14 to 24) in the Northern Sydney region (extending from Mosman to Berowra)
What We Do:
• provides flexible training and education
• training leading to a skills-based certification from TAFE and
• education pathways back to schools (Year 10 completion)
• programs leading to jobs
• work placements and
• life skills development for young people with challenging needs
Our Target client group:
• statistics show that in Australia around 50,000 young people (aged 15 to 19) drop out of education and are unemployed
and
• from a regional sense, in the Northern Sydney region 1 in 8 young people (aged 15 to 19) drop out of education and are unemployed
Issues facing young people have no postcode and impact widely across the socio economic divide. The marginalised (at risk) young people we work with are affected by a number of factors including: family breakdown, drug and or alcohol abuse, mental health issues, domestic violence and financial constraints
