Working Bee Team Volunteering

Bring your team for a working bee at one of our Ronald McDonald Houses and help support families with seriously ill children.

Our working bees are the perfect day for your group volunteering program.  Help us keep our Houses and grounds clean, comfortable and welcoming, so we can provide a real home-away-from-home for families travelling long distances to receive urgent medical treatment for their children at Victoria and Tasmania's leading paediatric hospitals.

Where can we do a Working Bee?
You can choose from the following Ronald McDonald Houses:
  • Monash (Clayton)
  • Parkville
  • Hobart
How many people can we bring?
  • Monash - 20
  • Parkville - 20
  • Hobart - 10
What day and time?
Fridays, arriving at 10am and finishing up between 2-3pm

What is involved?
Indoor and outdoor general maintenance jobs such as gardening and mulching, painting, sweeping, dusting, cleaning windows, tidying kitchens, lounges and dry goods stores, stock taking, putting together welcome packs and preparing the House for seasonal activities.  Baking afternoon tea can also be on the list!

What do we need to bring?
We have all the equipment you will need.  Please wear casual clothes and comfortable closed toe shoes.  You can also make use of our BBQ facilities and bring a BBQ lunch for yourselves and our families if you wish.

What do we need to do before the day?
Complete the group booking form and read and sign our volunteering guidelines.

Are there any costs involved?
RMHC VIC & TAS receives no government funding and relies entirely on the generous support of the wider community to keep our doors open 365 days a year. We therefore ask our group volunteers to make a donation to help keep our essential facilities running all year round.  The donation per team for each house is:
  • Monash: $500
  • Parkville: $1,000
  • Hobart: $200
We would love to see your team at one of our Houses soon.
