Volunteer Research Project Officer

Supervisor:

Associate Professor Mark Gillett, RNSH Emergency Department

Time Commitment:
 
Half-one day per week between Wednesday to Friday (hours flexible).
 
Tasks:

•    Oversee recruitment of participants in research projects
•    Manage research trial 
  • data in accordance with hospital guidelines and good research governance principles
  • Oversee trial master files
  • Co-ordinate research trial follow-up
  • monitor and achieve project timelines and outcomes
  • Involvement with colleagues in Ethics Committee applications
  • Provide secretarial support and administrative responsibilities for steering/working groups
  • Be accountable for prioritising work on several projects concurrently, including monitoring work flow
  • Provide supervision, guidance, mentoring and/or support to researchers and research staff as required
  • Skills/experience:
  • Previous experience of managing research projects
  • Commitment to maintain confidentiality and ethics requirements
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Clear and accurate communication skills
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision (once oriented to the position)
  • Word and Excel experience, ability to become familiar with other computer applications as required
  • Ability to take initiative
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Willingness to participate in the Emergency Department Research Training Program (1-2 days per year, at no cost)
