Eureka Stair Climb event volunteer

The Fred Hollows Foundation is very proud to be the beneficiary of the 12th Annual Eureka Stair Climb.  On Sunday, 17th November, the climb will host around 2,500 participants, striving to scale the 1,642 steps, or 88 floors, to the Skydeck at the top of the Eureka Tower in Southgate. The magnificent view from the 88th floor will demonstrate the difference fundraising for The Fred Hollows Foundation can make to the 4 out of 5 people who are needlessly blind around the world!
We are expecting a large number of participants taking part as individuals or as teams, from local workplaces in the Southbank precinct, as well as a big contingent of Emergency Services.

Volunteer role options and shifts are as follows:
  • Registration - checking in the participants, giving them race kits & ensuring they understand the event and timing processes. Shift 1: 05:30am - 11am; Shift 2: 10:30am-2:30pm
  • Bag Compound* - participants hand in their personal bag with a tag of their race bib - hand in and collection. Shift 1: 06:00am - 11am; Shift 2: 10:30am-2:30pm

  • Stairwell Marshals* - responsible for the safety of participants in the stairwells. You'll have two-way radios to call for assistance/first aid if ended, assist with water provision, and clean-up of any spillage, place empty bottles in bins and be cheery and encouraging to the participants.   Shift 1: 6am - 11am; Shift 2: 10am-2:30pm
