The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army is one of the largest, most loved and diverse charities in Australia. Each year we assist more than one million people – that’s one person every 30 seconds.

Wherever there is hardship or injustice Salvos will live, love and fight alongside others to transform Australia one life at a time.

We live out this vision by operating over 1,000 programs for people in need of a helping hand or longer term assistance. Our key areas of service include homelessness, addiction and recovery, family and domestic violence, youth services, practical support for individuals and families in crisis, aged care, job and employment programs, and disaster relief and recovery.

In a typical week the Salvos provide 100,000 meals for the hungry, 2000 beds for people experiencing homelessness, up to 8,000 food vouchers, refuge for 500 people fleeing domestic violence, support for 500 people addicted to drugs, alcohol or gambling and assistance to 1000 people seeking employment.
