Get your work back to nature
The theme for 2017 Landcare Week is “Get hands on with nature’. It implores us to get outdoors and appreciate the beauty and the importance of protecting the planet that we all share.Landcare Australia invites all organisations, big and small, to think about how they can get involved in Landcare Week this year (4-10 September). Connecting with nature has a positive impact on our well-being and can be a great way of supporting the fantastic work Landcare groups are doing across the country to ensure we have healthy landscapes to enjoy now and into the future.There are many ways you can raise money. Here are just a few ideas for your company:
All the funds raised by organisations for Landcare Week will go to support Landcare community projects across Australia.Your funds could help support projects that protect our threatened Aussie species. Possible examples include restoring habitats so they have a more secure future by improving the biodiversity, planting trees so that native animals can return to their homes, halting erosion, and cleaning up pollution in our waterways.
Register your organisation now for Landcare Week.
- Organise a bush walk day near your offices and ask workers to donate $20 to spend the morning or afternoon doing a bush walk in your local area, led by a local wildlife or plant life expert.
- Host a sausage sizzle in a nearby green space and ask employees to donate $5 for their lunch.
- Give something up for for a week that will benefit the environment, like using plastic bottles or disposable coffee cups. The money saved can support World Environment Day
- Dress to impress in aid of endangered animals. Dust off that leopard print in the back of the wardrobe and wear something fun and funky to grab people’s attention!
- Have a movie afternoon in the office. Screen some of David Attenborough’s greatest hits or a movie about connecting with nature like Tracks or Into the Wild and ask your employees for a donation.
