Fire is one of the most critical on-ground management priorities on AWC’s sanctuaries. AWC’s approach to fire management is focused on achieving measurable improvements in regional fire patterns and wildlife populations.

Our leadership in fire management is demonstrated by our Ecofire project in the Kimberley, where we work in collaboration with a diverse range of partners, including commercial pastoralists, government and indigenous communities to deliver fire management across more than 4 million hectares. Ecofire is one of Australia’s largest fire management programs. There is no other example of a non-government organisation conducting fire management on this scale.
