Brisbane Youth Service (BYS) has worked with homeless and vulnerable young people (aged 12 to 25 years) and young families in Brisbane and surrounding areas since 1977. BYS provides a range of critical support and integrated services including emergency relief, housing, physical, mental health and drug and alcohol programs, parenting assistance and domestic violence interventions.

For young people experiencing homelessness, life is tougher than ever and BYS is struggling to meet the escalating need. In fact, in 2020-21 BYS saw a 60% increase in the number of requests for support. The amount of support needed is also rising at an alarming rate, with the average number of times we supported each young person reaching its highest level ever.
