Conservation Volunteering - Sydney region

Bradleys Head, Sydney Harbour National Park
Get involved with regenerating the beautiful sandstone woodlands of Bradleys Head, improving bushland habitat for native wildlife including the endangered Red-crowned Toadlet. This unique little amphibian is a species of frog that is only found within the Sydney region, and a population is still hanging on at Bradleys Head in Sydney Harbour National Park. It is threatened by activities such as habitat loss, pollution and invasive exotic weeds.  This project focuses on hands-on bush regeneration at Bradleys Head, where we will be improving the Toadlets native Sydney sandstone woodland habitat by removing invasive exotic weeds. Opportunities for whale watching and an afternoon bushwalk are also available in season.

Congwong Beach, Kamay Botany Bay National Park
Congwong Beach sand dunes is a place of significance for traditional land owners the Gweagal and Kameygal, with important cultural sites located within the park. Our restoration project is working to remove Bitou bush from the dunes and rehabilitate and re-establish the native vegetation.  The area’s sand dunes are vital in protecting the coast line and rely on healthy native vegetation to stay intact. Not only do the dunes provide a suitable habitat to many species, they act as a buffer against significant weather events. Opportunities for whale watching and an afternoon bushwalk are also available in season.

 What a day looks like
A corporate volunteering day typically runs from around 9:00 am to 3:00 pm (excluding travel time) with morning, afternoon and lunch breaks, however we can tailor an itinerary to suit your individual needs - for example, developing a half-day activity.
We run these days throughout the year and numbers can vary from small groups between 5-10 up to much large group sizes (please ensure you let us know your group size on your application and then we can discuss appropriate locations).

Contribution
To deliver your tailored corporate volunteering day we ask for a contribution to help us cover our operating costs. The contributions we seek is $2,000 for a team of up to 10. Teams greater than 10 can also be catered for at $150 p/person.

For your volunteer day, Conservation Volunteers will coordinate and provide:
  • Promotional information to help recruit volunteers for your day, including project overview, what to bring and wear, itinerary of the day and registration process
  • A dedicated team leader to supervise the volunteers (every team leader is qualified in Work Health and Safety, first aid and defensive driving and have a background in practical conservation)
