Sponsor a Young Carer to be matched with a one-on-one mentor through our Mentoring Program.
A $50 donation can fund a match between a Young Carer and a mentor for regular catch ups to help with schoolwork as well as give general guidance. The Young Carer Mentoring Program empowers Young Carers through one-on-one mentor matches, whilst building capacity to access people, places, information and services that are crucial to improving social connectedness and wellbeing.
Research shows that mentoring relationships between young people and adults can have a positive impact on a young person’s educational and personal circumstances. Through one-on-one mentoring, Little Dreamers aims to improve wellbeing and quality of life for Young Carers in the program, targeting the negative effects they often face.
This Program empowers Young Carers whilst reducing social isolation and strengthening health and wellbeing. A Young Carers journey begins with a MyMind Star Assessment to understand their current health and wellbeing status. Our Family Support Workers then carefully match each participant with a vetted and trained mentor who can work with them to identify goals, and strive to reach them during their time together. Meeting weekly or fortnightly, each mentoring relationship is supervised by our Family Support Workers to ensure that everyone remains comfortable throughout the program. Our mentoring program increases self-confidence, independence and ability to participate in respite activities.
