Ignite Small Business Start Ups: Skilled Mentoring with Refugee Entrepreneurs
The Ignite® Small Business Start Ups
initiative facilitates business creation for people from refugee and migrant
backgrounds who are keen to establish a small business or expand an existing
one. Since opening its doors in 2013 Ignite® has helped over 740 entrepreneurs
to establish more than 260 small businesses positively impacting the Australian
economy. Ignite® currently operates in New South Wales and Queensland, and
since 2018, has expanded its reach to Canada.
Amid today’s turmoil, where insecurity and
uncertainty are rife, Ignite® acts as a guiding light and a crucial support
system for many vulnerable small business owners. Ignite®’s services are vital,
now more than ever, to ensure meaningful social and economic participation for
some of Australia’s most marginalised communities - not only through the
COVID-19 crisis but well into the future.
Ignite is based on the Sirolli model of
Enterprise Facilitation® whereby we work to create an Ecosystem of Support for
each entrepreneur, working directly with a single facilitator throughout the
entire journey, and leveraging the skills and experience of our volunteer
