Garma Festival - Volunteers Wanted!

Volunteering at Garma Festival is a rewarding experience but it is important to know that it is also very hard and physical work. It’s a competitive process and we recruit a wide and diverse skill set.


Applications for Volunteering at Garma 2023 are now open!


Step 1: Apply to volunteer


Step 2: Wait to see if have been shortlisted (this may take up to 10 business days)


Step 3: If your application is successful, you will be emailed a form to Register in which you must agree to the Volunteer Agreement


This is a 11 day immersive cultural volunteering experience from 29 Jul 2023 to 9 Aug 2023. Successfull applicants will be required for the full 11 days.

Volunteer Rewards



  • Each volunteer will receive:

  • a four-day festival volunteer pass;

  • a campsite within the volunteer camping area (all camping equipment will be supplied)

  • catered meals;

  • volunteer Garma t-shirt

  • the experience of a lifetime at Australia’s premier Indigenous event!


Essential requirements



  • you will be entering an Indigenous community; all successful applicants will be required to provide the following:


    • a current criminal history report (12 months or less)

    • in some roles you will be required to have a current NT Working with Children Card or willing to obtain one


  • volunteers will need to organise and fund their travel arrangements to and from Gove, Nhulunbuy. We highly recommend that you take out travel insurance.
