Cancer Council NSW is an independent charity and is 97% community funded. Our unique combination of local program delivery, community engagement and national influence enables everyone who cares about cancer to make the biggest possible difference. We are the only organisation that works across every area of every cancer, conducting and funding world-class research that underpins our work across the cancer journey, preventing cancer, supporting people as they navigate the cancer journey and advocating to ensure that governments take action on.

Cancer Council NSW’s Relay For Life (RFL) is a wonderful event where everyone in the community can join in the fight against cancer. It is a day filled with fun, festivities and strengthening and creating friendships.

Cancer Council is seeking dynamic and enthusiastic volunteers to join the Hornsby Relay For Life Event Committee as part of the Leadership Team. As a Relay For Life team leader and committee member you will be an advocate for this unique event. You will work with the Organising Committee to promote, organise and run the event on the day, which will be held on November 4-5,  2017. This role will run from July - November with the opportunity to be ongoing or transition to other roles within the committee.
 
In partnership with the Cancer Council staff member and the organising committee you will oversee the entire event from start to finish. You will inspire others to join the event, lead committee meetings and be our key spokesperson in the community. You will aim to ensure all areas of Hornsby Relay For Life are performing optimally and event objectives are achieved.
 
 
As a RFL Committee member you’ll have:
  • Live and work locally in the Hornsby area and surrounding suburbs
    (local knowledge of Hornsby a must)
  • Have previous event management and/or leadership experience
  • Have a strong sense of the local community and influential networks
  • Have organisational and time management skills
  • Possess motivational and mentoring skills
  • Have computer skills: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Available to commit to the role for 6 months.
