The ability for someone with MND to remain living in their own home is dependent on having carers and the equipment to make this possible. Approximately 58 % of people diagnosed with MND are under the age of 65. Many have young families and were previously healthy. A hoist can allow someone to be transferred from a bed to a wheelchair, or onto a commode so that they can perform the daily tasks we take for granted such as going to the toilet or having a shower.
