Make A Meal Team Experience - Parkville

Come and cook dinner for the families staying at Ronald McDonald House Parkville.

Our Make A Meal program is the perfect team building experience, all whilst helping families with seriously ill children.  Help relieve some of the stress and financial burden for families with children being treated at the Royal Children's Hospital. You don't need to be a chef, if you can cook for yourself, you can Make A Meal with us!

Where is Ronald McDonald House Parkville?
RMH Parkville is located in a row of terraces on Gatehouse Street, a short walk from the Royal Children's Hospital.

Make A Meal is perfect for 5-15 staff

What day of the week?
Tuesday and Thursday evenings
Friday day time

What time of day?
There are two sessions available:
  • Evening session: arrive at 3.30pm til approx 8pm. Cooking evening meal and sharing it with families.
  • Day session: arrive at 10am til approx 2pm.  Restocking our freezers with fresh meals so families can help themselves after a long day at the hospital.
Groups are given a short guided tour of the House prior to cooking.

What should we cook?
Simple, home style cooking is best and we have lots of suggestions to help you out if you need some inspiration. We ask for a main, a vegetarian option, two sides and dessert.  Our kitchens are fully stocked with all the equipment and utensils you should need.

How many people should we cook for?
You should cook for 100 people plus your team.

What do we need to do before the day?
Complete the group booking form and read and sign our volunteering guidelines.

Are there any costs involved?
Your team is responsible for purchasing the ingredients for your meal; you can do this online and have it delivered to the House or purchase it in person and bring it with you.

RMHC VIC & TAS receives no government funding and relies entirely on the generous support of the wider community to keep our doors open 365 days a year. We therefore set our Make A Meal volunteers a target to fundraise or donate to cover the overheads of the program and to help keep our essential facilities running all year round.  The donation per team for RMH Parkville is $1,000.

We would love to see your team at RMH Parkville soon.
