Volunteer Youth Mentor

TRY Mentoring is a non-profit organisation aimed at connecting young people with volunteer adult mentors – someone like yourself who can be a mentor and supportive friend.

The program recognises that all young people regardless of their background or circumstances, can benefit from a mentor who can support them to identify their strengths, develop their skills, abilities, behaviours and beliefs. The program is based on either 1-to-1 or group mentoring. Our mentors commit to spending an hour or 2 per week with their mentee for 12 months, though we hope the friendship lasts a lifetime!

In 1-to-1 mentoring, you and your mentee get to decide what you do together, just like any other friendship. A TRY Program Coordinator will be available to support you along the way.

Our group mentoring programs provide the opportunity to engage a small group of young people with 2-3 mentors in a supportive environment for a minimum of 12 months. These youth focused strengths based programs develop throughout the year through the feedback and interests of the young people and volunteers.

Our mentors come from all walks of life with a wide variety of interests and experiences; no formal qualifications are required. Comprehensive training will be provided as part of our thorough screening process. So if you are interested in making a meaningful difference through mentoring then please get in touch.
