Team-Building - The Big Issue Challenge

Looking for a hands-on, team building activity with a real impact on homelessness and disadvantage? The Big Issue has the perfect Challenge for you!

The Big Issue Challenge tests creativity, uncovers unconscious bias, promotes a practical approach to managing diversity and inclusion, and determination as teams hit the streets to help Big Issue vendors sell as many magazines as possible. Along with having a direct, immediate impact on the lives of Big Issue vendors you work with, teams come away from the Challenge with greater empathy, resilience and other valuable, real-world soft skills that can’t be learnt at a desk.

What the Challenge involves:
Learn about homelessness and disadvantage first hand from a street vendor who will share their experiences that brought them to The Big Issue and how their life has changed since.
  • In teams, brainstorm and design an effective creative campaign that will stand out on the street and sell magazines.
  • Get out of your comfort zone and experience what it’s like to be a Big Issue vendor.
  • Help your vendor with their sales for the day while raising awareness of all the men and women who sell The Big Issue magazine.
The Big Issue Challenge is a paid team-building activity and costs $1800 for up to 20 participants. Additional participants can be accommodated for $100 per head for a maximum capacity of 35 participants.

The cost of the challenge goes toward the resources we require to run the challenge including payment to the guest speaker, facilitators and other materials/staffing resources.

All our social enterprises are geared towards creating employment opportunities for homeless and marginalised people.

As a not for profit social enterprise we need to ensure that all our costs are covered so we can continue to run these programs to help the people who we support.
