Even when they are not direct targets of abuse, family violence can have a devastating impact on children who witness violence in the home. Around 50 per cent of the clients accommodated by safe steps are under the age of 18, with the majority of the women coming through the service fleeing violent homes with their children.
$75 can provide art supplies, musical instruments and creative toys for individual and group therapeutic sessions for children, to help them to heal and recover from the trauma of family violence.
