In 2022, Liam was diagnosed with cancer and began a difficult journey through treatment. One of the hardest challenges for him was losing his hair, which made him feel upset and self-conscious.
Hair loss during treatment can be tough on anyone, but for Liam, it was especially hard as it made him feel different from his friends. Despite these struggles, he remained strong and determined, and in a beautiful act of kindness, Liam decided to grow his hair out with the intention of donating it to help others.
Now that his hair has grown into a mullet, he will cut it and donate it to a wig-making charity called Wigs for Kids, which provides wigs to children going through cancer treatments, so they don’t have to feel as self-conscious as he did.
Not only did he want to help make a difference by donating his hair, but he also wanted to raise much-needed funds for the Kids Cancer Support Group, which is there to support families in any way possible.
This fundraiser will go towards supporting kids and families facing childhood cancer, helping them with the practical, emotional and financial challenges they face during such a difficult time.
Liam’s story is a testament to his strength, resilience, and compassion. He's come so far from being in isolation in that hospital. He wants to give back and help other kids feel supported, just as Liam did during his treatment through the Kids Cancer Support Group.
Kids Cancer Support Group (KCSG) is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to connecting, supporting and enriching the lives of children affected by childhood cancer and blood disorders and their families in WA.
KCSG is the overarching support service for the kids Oncology/Haematology ward at Perth Children's Hospital, providing support to 100's of families each year. They provide support in the hospital, practical support at home, events and connection for families, a supported playgroup, and so much more. KCSG's mission is to walk alongside families offering practical and emotional support where and when it's needed most.
Liam would like your support with a donation so he can make a difference to other kids and their families.
